"In 2018 , people of Salisbury were faced with unprecedented crisis .A chemical weapon attack on British City. " These lines flashes up at the start of new BBC drama "The Salisbury Poisonings."
This 4 episode drama narrates what actually happened in "spy attack " which normally we used to hear in Cold War era .
One Russian double agent named Sergei Skripal along with his daughter were poisoned in the city of Salisbury, England with a Novichok nerve agent. Detective Sargent named Nick Belly was also got contaminated while probing the attack . All these 3 people got recovered from attack . However later on ,one tragedy stroked when one British National named Dawn Struguss died due to high exposure of nerve agent.
At initial level , UK authorities were in dark about how this happened as they got no clue . But soon they found out "A Russian Hand" which started accusations by Britain on Russia and series of punitive measures against Russia, including the expulsion of diplomats. As expected , Russian denied these charges .
The Drama revolves around with Beginning of attack , Response of British Authorities , Panic Situation of British People , Media , Business , Lives of People at Stake, National interest, international politics . Series describes "effect of Lock-down " on Salisbury which rest of the world is facing nowadays . Since it is BBC produced drama , they as usual excelled . 4 episode series ensures that audience would not get bored with pile of information and includes some dramatic scene but same time it doesn't crosses sobriety. Visual Treatment of the show is soothing . An opt use of background music adds value to intense scenes . Actors acted well avoiding risk of overacting thanks to constructively implementation screenplay . This can be seen in series where Tracy , Nick belly are shown normal people like us which later on complimented as "Hero " for their efforts . The cost of heroic act is that Nick Belly has to abandoned his home due exposure of never agent.
Last episode shows the real-life characters and what has happened to them in the past two years.
Overall "The Salisbury Poisonings " is perfectly well written and acted. A series which one shouldn't missed.
